Father & Son set new Record and get Frankies 1st National Win! Published on April 16, 2011 by Stotz Racing
Thanks to the Manufacturers Cup with Orient Express sponsoring the ProStreet class, the fans were treated to another spectacular race. Right out of the trailer the CBR1000RR was flying. We battled a fuel pressure issue, but by the first round of qualifing we went a 7.14 ET and stayed Number 1 all weekend to earn the Dunnigan Racing #1 Qualifier bonus. Star Racing was there and George Bryce helped with the fuel issue both with parts and tuning advice. This helped us stay consistent. We had performance last year but lacked consistency both in the bike and the rider. Kent tackled the bike issues and Frankie was absolutely stellar with his reaction times, shifting on time and keeping the bike straight on target. Wade of SGMP had the track sticking unbelievably well, even with the 90 degree heat and direct sun.
Microblue put our Falicon Crank and Rods, JE Pistons, Robinson Tranny, and even Star Racings head and cams through their micropolish and patented coating process. Saturday night after 7 test passes and 3 qualifiers, the motor leak down was good and no signs of wear in the oil. Sunday eliminations we set our little 1000 on kill to set the new National record at 7.105. Phil Davis performed an official MiRock rules teardown to confirm the new record and then we drove it though the pits to the winners circle for pictures.
Last week was my birthday and Frankie gave me one of the greatest presents a father could hope for. I have been saving one of my National Championship bottles of Champagne for a special occasion. I can't think of a better reason to open it than my son winning his first National win and setting the New National Record. This weekend is his birthday, we are going to put that Manufacturers Cup to good use. I hope I kept it at the right temperature.
