Virtually every part you use has been heat treated in one form or another. Those who know the business the way we do, understand that it is a business built around continual compromise. Compromise that is a result of not having enough time to do it right and too few customers willing to pay for a better job. So, whenever a part fails, we often wonder if this “invisible” process had anything to do with it.

Well, the sad fact is that it probably did. How can you tell? You need a lab that is set up for failure analysis
and is equipped to look “inside” the microstructure of the parts. Only then can you accurately determine if
the heat treating process was part of it. Then determine if the parts can be improved and most importantly, exactly what needs to be done. Many give cryogenics a try right away. Sometimes it works and sometimes it  doesn’t and very few understand why. Still others try coatings, and sometimes they work and sometimes they don’t. There are a myriad of things to “try” out there, and guessing which is the right one can be very time  consuming and costly. The best bet is “don’t guess.”. At MTI, we don’t guess, we diagnose the problem first, then make a game plan. And that game plan will require some tools, and fortunately for you, we have all the tools. (and some easy to understand explanations). Got a problem? Just let us know what it is, maybe we can help.
